Who Will Be at SPL 2?
SPL Team
Feb 28, 2025
Now that SPL 1 has come to a halt, the only proceeding question is, what's next? SPL 2 of course, but who will headline SPL 1's predecessor? SPL contacted all the viable contenders, in which none have gotten back yet. But there are speculations to whom will carry the next torch! Tony Dean, nicknamed 'El Colibrí' for his hand-speed, has shown interest in competing. Alongside Brazilian technicians Narcizo Farias and Léo Oliveira, which have exclaimed excitement for participating following their recent entry to the league. Let's breakdown all three's possible incentives to compete in SPL 2, and how a Brazil vs United States matchup looks likely to happen! Possibly overtaking SPL 1's Australia vs England!
Tony Dean has conveyed curiosity in headlining SPL 2. Recently stating "I'll sub in if nobody else can." Signifying an endearing chance he competes, due to the current stillness from the rest of the roster. If Dean competed, he'd be the first to represent America in the SPL. Which is a milestone everyone's excited for. El Colibrí may be small in numbers, but according to him, he will put on a legendary clinic, one that no drummer will forget.
As of 2/28/2025, Narcizo Farias is the latest drummer to join the roster. With SPL being fresh in his mind, he's professed excitement in competing in the organization. Stating it as an 'honor' to headline drumming's second sporting event. Although nothing's official, Farias is likely to be the first to represent Brazil. Which is equally as legendary to Dean's potential accolade, for which Brazil holds one of the strongest sporting and music cultures!
When talking about Brazil's place in the SPL, we can't forget about Léo Oliveira, who was the first to star the Brazilian colors. Oliveira articulated that he loved the idea of representing Brazil in the league, and that he's "excited to be part of it." Oliveira is also fresh to the league, having his mind set on SPL gold; resulting in a great possibility he headlines SPL 2, honoring that.
Following what's above, there's a high likelihood Brazil and the States will cross paths. With the most recent SPL players being Brazilian, on-top of the sub-in promise Dean made, this legendary rivalry may be carried over into the sportdrum world as well! Not to mention, the possibility another American steps in before Dean like Joey Castro, Horror Ace or Irving Osuna!
Who Will Be at SPL 2? Tony Dean, Narcizo Farias and Léo Oliveira have shown interest in competing. But anything could happen, Nigeria's Gbenga Daniel could step-in, or Germany's Luca. Only one thing is for sure, SPL 2 will be a legendary showdown. Regardless of country or person.
